The Inmate World from Amelia Crouch on Vimeo.
Filmed in an empty office building, formerly used by West Yorkshire Police, ‘The Inmate World’ is a short film about identity and group dynamics. Its protagonists partake in a series of ambiguous exercises, informed by team-building exercises and research into body language at work. Voiceover text comes from ‘The Inmate World’ by Erving Goffman, in his book 'Asylums’ .
Produced as part of a residency with The Art House, Wakefield. Alongside the film a series of prints was displayed, showing responses collected from members of the public about their self-identity at work.
